President Ruto’s Advisor Dennis Itumbi has come out and alleged a Call between Rigathi Gachagua and Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and John Methu that saw Rigathi Gachagua allegedly reject Uhuru Kenyatta’s proposed 2027 line-up.
According to Mr. Itumbi, Edwin Sifuna sought out Babu Owino yesterday in Kilifi for a day-long meeting. At one point, Itumbi claims they called Rigathi Gachagua who urged them to reject Uhuru Kenyatta’s line-up of Kalonzo as Presidential Candidate and Edwin Sifuna as Running mate.
“During the meeting they called Jofri (Gachagua). His message was reject Uhuru’s line-up of Kalonzo as Presidential Candidate and Sifuna as Running mate” reads Itumbi’s message in part.
Itumbi further claimed that Gachagua instead proposed Edwin Sifuna as the Presidential Candidate and John Methu as the running mate. They also allegedly explored another way of forming their own coalition and leaving Uhuru Kenyatta with Azimio. However, according to Itumbi, Sifuna pointed out that Uhuru Kenyatta has been financing him and felt that he should inform him about their plan for another coalition.
“Our agents say Sifuna pointed out that Uhuru was financing him. And since he had treated him well, it would be courtesy on his side to inform him about the plan for a stand alone coalition” Reads Itumbi’s message.
The allegations by Dennis Itumbi comes amid political realignments currently taking shape in the country ahead of next year’s general elections. Itumbi claims that during the meeting, the leaders agreed that everyone should retain and build their own political party and work towards building a coalition later.
