Suzzane Mugure Wambui from Githunguri in Kiambu County had been counting down to the arrival of her baby, after enduring nine months of waiting and challenges throughout her pregnancy.
Like many expectant mothers, she remained hopeful, believing that the long journey would soon end with safe delivery and the joy of becoming a mother.
According to accounts shared by her family, Suzzane’s spirits were high just days before the tragedy.
She reportedly visited Kiambu last week for a photoshoot, where she posed for what appeared to be a final picture—holding her stomach and displaying a broad smile that reflected excitement and anticipation.
In the photograph, she looked radiant, with the kind of happiness that usually comes when a mother is close to going into labour.
After the photoshoot, Suzzane was later accompanied by her relatives as she prepared for childbirth. She was taken to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital as labour began, and family members say she had been in good health aside from complaints of labour pains.
On Saturday, September 18, Suzzane was admitted to the labour ward, where she reportedly gave birth normally.
However, the situation changed soon after delivery. Her family was still expecting that she would recover normally following childbirth, but they later received distressing news.
On Monday, September 21, relatives were shocked to learn that Suzzane had died due to complications after the delivery, leaving behind an infant.
The family has described the loss as sudden and heartbreaking, especially given that Suzzane had appeared stable earlier and had even taken part in a celebratory photoshoot during the final days of her pregnancy.
