Disney Channel actress Carla Jeffery, widely recognised for her role as Bree in Disney’s popular Zombies franchise, has died at the age of 33.
Jeffery died on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, according to a statement released by her long-time talent management company, Alexanders Talent Management.
The agency confirmed her death but did not disclose the cause.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on September 1, 2026, at just 33 years old,” the management company said.
Jeffery had a long relationship with the agency, having joined Alexanders Talent Management when she was only 12 years old.
The company said it had watched her develop from a young performer into a talented actress whose personality and smile left a lasting impression on those around her.
“Carla joined the Alexanders Talent Management family at the age of 12. For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room,” the statement said.
Jeffery became particularly popular among younger audiences through Disney’s Zombies films, where she played Bree, a cheerful and energetic student at Seabrook High School.
Bree was also one of the closest friends of Addison, one of the franchise’s central characters.
Her portrayal helped make her one of the familiar faces associated with the successful Disney franchise, which attracted a large international audience.
The actress reprised the role in Zombies 2 and Zombies 3 and later continued her connection with the character by voicing Bree in Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
Her management said Jeffery brought joy, humour and warmth to audiences through her performances.
“As Bree in Disney’s hit ZOMBIES franchise, Carla shared her joy, humour and bright spirit with audiences around the world,” the agency said.
Beyond her work in the Disney franchise, Jeffery built an acting career that began when she was still young.
She made her film debut in the 2006 comedy Phat Girlz and later appeared in several well-known television productions.
Her acting credits included appearances in iCarly, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up, Southland, Suburgatory and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
She also had a recurring role as Keysha Black in the acclaimed comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm.
In a 2025 interview, Jeffery spoke about the personal impact of playing Bree and the emotional experience of seeing young Black girls connect with her character.
She said she had not expected to become a source of inspiration but was deeply moved when she saw young fans dressing up as Bree.
Jeffery also attended the 2025 premiere of Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, demonstrating her continued connection to the franchise that made her widely known to Disney audiences.
Her management described her as more than simply an actress they represented.
“Carla was more than a client; she was family,” the agency said.
The company appealed to the public to respect the privacy of Jeffery’s family and loved ones as they mourn her death.
“Our hearts are with Carla’s family and loved ones during this devastating time. We respectfully ask that their privacy be honoured as they grieve this unimaginable loss,” the statement added.
Jeffery’s death has brought an abrupt end to the career of an actress who grew up in the entertainment industry and became a familiar face to a generation of Disney viewers.
While the cause of her death has not been made public, her performances, particularly her role as Bree, are expected to remain an important part of her legacy among fans of the Zombies franchise.
