EALA MP Winnie Odinga has expressed her desire to meet retired President Uhuru Kenyatta for guidance as she navigates Kenya’s political landscape following the death of her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking during an interview with a Nigerian YouTuber and journalist on Saturday, August 29, Winnie said she wants to inherit her father’s friends rather than his political enemies. She maintained that she has no personal animosity toward any leader and is open to engaging with politicians across the political divide.
Winnie also said she would welcome an opportunity to meet President William Ruto for advice and guidance. She described herself as someone who does not believe in starting political relationships with hostility or conflict.
She further revealed that preparations are underway for a grand memorial ceremony for Raila in Bondo. A committee has been formed to organise the event, which will combine traditional and religious rites.
According to Winnie, the memorial will celebrate Raila’s life rather than focus on mourning, reflecting his preference for solemn but celebratory occasions.
