Kenyan content creator Risper Faith has sparked an online conversation after sharing details about her experience giving birth in the United States.
Through a video shared with her followers, Risper discussed some of the financial demands she encountered before and after delivery.
Her experience has drawn attention to the expenses involved in having a baby abroad, particularly for families who may focus mainly on the perceived benefits while overlooking the medical costs.
Risper explained that financial planning begins well before delivery. Expectant mothers may incur expenses through prenatal appointments, medical documentation and other requirements during pregnancy.

According to figures shared by Risper, her hospital experience involved separate bills for herself and her newborn.
She said the baby’s hospital bill came to about $3,464, while her own bill was approximately $7,077 for the period she discussed.

Risper, however, said she considered the financial sacrifice worthwhile because of what she believes the decision could mean for her child’s future.
She explained that her motivation was linked to the opportunities and privileges she associates with being born and registered in the United States.
“Mimi nili sacrifice sababu gani? Watoto wako na future,” she said.
Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some discussing whether the potential long-term benefits justify the immediate financial burden.
