Governor Gladys Wanga on Saturday evening joined other leaders and worshippers for a church service and the annual Women’s Convention hosted by the International Gospel Ministries (IGM) in Migori Town.Wanga attended the event alongside Migori Governor Dr Ochilo Ayacko, with the gathering bringing together church leaders, women, local leaders and members of the congregation.
The convention was hosted by IGM Bishop Dr Walter Ogwada and his wife, Florence Ogwada, as the church celebrated the contribution of women to families, communities and the wider society.
In her remarks, Wanga highlighted the important position women continue to hold in shaping society, noting that their influence extends beyond leadership positions in politics and the corporate world.
According to the governor, women remain central to the development and preservation of moral values within communities.
She observed that although more women are rising to leadership positions across different sectors, their traditional and social responsibilities continue to make them an important foundation of society.
The governor’s message came at a time when conversations around women’s participation in leadership and decision-making continue to gain prominence across the country.Wanga encouraged women to embrace opportunities that enable them to contribute meaningfully to public service, business, community development and other areas of national life.
The event also provided an opportunity for worshippers to come together in fellowship, prayer and reflection as part of the annual convention.
Governor Ayacko and other leaders joined Wanga in celebrating the women gathered for the occasion while acknowledging the role played by the church in strengthening families and communities.
Wanga expressed her appreciation for the invitation and praised the organisers for creating a platform that celebrates and encourages women.
