Gospel singer Size 8 has encouraged female artists to work hard in the industry.
Speaking to the press during Daddy Owen’s peace concert in Eldoret yesterday, the mother of two said the equal fight men fight is what women artists also fight.
“You have to fight. We also fought and by God’s grace, we are here.
On the other side, I think but female artistes wanachezwa from my understanding. But the ones who are coming up, fight for your space. Fight like a man and don’t wait for favours. If you are singing gospel music, let God give you favour and put an effort just like me.”
She encouraged artistes to keep on pushing for the 75 % airplay in our media outlets.
“Kenya is the few countries where local content is not played on radio 90%. Other countries like Tanzania, Uganda and so on, get much airplay from their local artistes. It’s not only for us but for our kids and let’s grow the industry.”
Asked to comment on Diana Marua’s new music venture, Size 8 said everyone with their own freedom.
“Kila mtu na raha zake.”
