More than 30 others are injured, with nine in a serious condition, PM Anutin Charnvirakul says.
Authorities say the suspected shooter, 14, is also dead, with Anutin telling reporters the attack was “well prepared” with “clear steps and clear goals”
One student, who fled the school in Nonthaburi on the outskirts of Thailand’s capital Bangkok, tells the BBC she saw a teacher get shot.
Another, still in her school uniform, describes how she and some friends “had to climb over the school fence to escape”
Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the vicinity of Debsirin School – images show emergency responders at the scene.
This is the second school shooting in Thailand this year – despite restrictions on ownership people can acquire guns here with relative ease, writes our South East Asia correspondent.

One 31-year-old teacher describes seeing pupils running and screaming from a building at the other end of the school, before later learning one of his friends had been killed.

A rescue worker describes finding the suspected shooter with a pulse, after offering medical attention to students with gunshot wounds.
One 17-year-old student says she could “hear bullets hitting the floor” directly above her and “was afraid I would die”.
Another student “didn’t think it was a gun at first”, telling Reuters he initially thought the noise came from firecrackers before hearing “many shots: Bang bang bang”.
