Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has now responded to recent comments involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, adding another chapter to the ongoing political debate.
In a statement shared on his social media page, Wamumbi claimed that Gachagua has repeatedly referred to him as “Gakúnia,” saying the nickname has been used against him many times without affecting him personally. However, he suggested that Gachagua’s recent remarks directed at Fred Matiang’i appeared to have generated a stronger public reaction.
According to Wamumbi, “RiggyG has called me ‘Gakúnia’ 101 times, but telling Fred Matiang’i that anatembea peke yake kama miti has hit hard.” He went on to add, “You don’t know who you are dealing with, he fights with everyone.”
The remarks come at a time when political leaders are increasingly using public rallies and social media platforms to respond to one another.
