Mercy Nashipai Legilisho has dismissed viral claims that she is romantically involved with Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, saying the speculation has gone too far.
Speaking in a video recorded inside her car while eating a passion fruit, the social media influencer and activist questioned why people keep referring to her as the MP’s “side chick.”
“I’m 28 years old. What is the obsession with Mercy and Oscar side chick?” she said. “Next time you want to address me, at least need a side hand, cockroach, whatever.”
Mercy explained that she and Sudi are simply friends and stressed that they are both adults capable of making their own decisions.
She also referred to Maasai traditions, where men have historically been allowed to marry more than one wife, and cited biblical figures including Moses, David, Solomon and Esther while making her point.
The outspoken activist also addressed her political ambitions, confirming that she intends to contest the Kajiado County Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election.
She dismissed claims that powerful politicians are backing her campaign.
“When it comes to my political journey, I’m on my own. My Godfather is God. So stop looking for a sponsor. It’s God, full stop,” she said.
Mercy added that she chooses to bear public criticism herself to shield her family from online attacks and appealed to Kenyans to end the speculation.
“Let’s put it to rest. Those with opinions, those who know better, take a mic,” she concluded.
