Pastor James Ng’ang’a, the founder of Neno Evangelism Centre, has attracted public attention after making surprising claims about the number of children he has fathered in different parts of Kenya.
While addressing a congregation in what appeared to be a church or public gathering, Ng’ang’a spoke about family matters and encouraged women to remain committed to prayer. During his remarks, he claimed that he has between 70 and 100 children living across several counties.
“Kwa mama muamuke muombe. Kwa hiri sisi wanaume tuleta kuwa na watoto. Mimi niku na watoto kama Sabini hivi. Sabini ama mea hivi,” he said.
Ng’ang’a continued by naming several areas where he claimed some of his children live. Among the places he mentioned were Kabani, Murang’a and Kirinyaga. His comments appeared to amuse members of the audience, particularly when he suggested that Western Kenya was one region where he had not fathered many children.
“Kule sijazaza ni huko Western,” he said.
The remarks quickly generated reactions after a video clip of the preacher’s comments circulated on social media. His unusual claims and humorous delivery once again placed him at the centre of public discussion.
Ng’ang’a has previously spoken openly about his difficult past and personal transformation. Reports about his life indicate that between 1972 and 1992, he spent significant periods in maximum-security prisons following convictions for offences that reportedly included robbery with violence, theft and assault.
His life reportedly changed while he was serving a prison sentence at Shimo la Tewa Prison. In 1989, Ng’ang’a converted to Christianity and began preaching to other inmates. After completing his time in prison, he was permanently released in 1992.
Following his release, Ng’ang’a pursued Christian ministry and eventually established the Neno Evangelism Centre, becoming one of Kenya’s widely recognised and outspoken religious figures.
Over the years, his preaching style, personal revelations and controversial public statements have repeatedly attracted attention. His latest claims concerning the number and geographical spread of his children have added another unusual episode to his public profile, generating widespread conversation among social media users and members of the public.
