A teacher at Murkan Comprehensive School in Emurua Dikirr, Geoffrey Wasley, who allegedly killed his lover, Abigael Chepkemoi, a prison officer based in Sotik, has reportedly taken his own life by hanging himself.
Local reports indicate that Wasley, a JS teacher, died after using a rope, in what authorities are treating as a major escalation in a matter that had already drawn intense public attention in the area.
His death has left residents shocked and has deepened the emotional turmoil surrounding the case, particularly among family members and colleagues who described him as someone who had been at the center of mounting marital and workplace tensions.
Before his death, the allegations against Wasley had already triggered widespread grief and condemnation.
According to accounts shared by community members, Wasley’s family was devastated after it emerged that he sent nude videos and messages involving Chepkemoi to a teachers’ WhatsApp group.
The reports suggest that the move was linked to accusations Wasley had made against another teacher, whom he claimed was having an affair with his wife, who is also said to be a prison officer attached in Sotik.
Officials and witnesses say that the content was shared at about 5 a.m., a time when many group members were not immediately active.
However, after the material surfaced, the group administrator later intervened and removed the explicit content.
One of the messages reportedly read: “Pole sana done and dusted,.” People who said they saw the messages described it as an attempt to express deep pain, while others said it quickly turned into blame directed at individuals within the teaching fraternity.
It is also alleged that Wasley sent another text specifically targeting a teacher by name. “My HOI, Mr. Chepkwony you’re part of people who pushed me to this extent…,” the message reportedly said, based on screenshots that circulated among members of the group before administrators contained the posts.
