NTV has unmasked the men accused of attacking and allegedly assaulting a mechanic working for the DCP campaign truck on July 11, 2026 in viral video.
According to an NTV investigative report, the assault involved hooded goons who approached the campaign vehicle and subjected the driver to severe violence before allegedly forcing him to drink a suspected corrosive .
Investigators say one of the men involved was later identified after being captured on camera pelting stones at the truck.
In the footage, the suspect is shown wearing khaki trousers and a covered face using a balaclava
The report further states that, at some point during the attack, the hooded men made a decision to set the truck on fire.
NTV claims this followed their apparent attempt to remove key equipment from the vehicle, including a radio installed inside the truck.
What NTV describes as particularly worrying is the fact that several occupants inside the truck reportedly women hid in the vehicle as the attack unfolded.
The report warns that if the vehicle had fully caught fire while the occupants remained trapped inside, the outcome could have been catastrophic.
Among those targeted was a mechanic identified as John Ashiona.
NTV reports that when Ashiona attempted to escape, the attackers chased him on a motorbike.
Investigators say they then pushed him into one Prado vehicle after another and took him to a location described as a “torture chamber,” where they allegedly told him, “Today you will die.”
In the account presented to NTV, the men reportedly brought water suspected to be acid and ordered Ashiona who was associated with the DCP destroyed truck to drink it.
However, NTV says Ashiona refused, insisting on his own death rather than complying with the order.
As the assault continued, NTV reports that the attackers noticed members of the public moving closer to the scene.
The report says the men responded by instructing others to shoot Ashiona, adding that they would dispose of him in a nearby maize plantation.
In his testimony to NTV, Ashiona said he was beaten mercilessly.
He claims his private parts were injured and that there were visible marks on his face and hands.
He also said the extent of the beating was evident, with his backbone reportedly showing due to the severity of the assault.
