Moses Kuria has broken his silence following the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)’s defeat in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election and striking a conciliatory tone while assuring residents that development projects will continue uninterrupted. In a statement shared on Saturday, July 18, Kuria revealed that he had personally called MP-elect Kamau Ngotho to congratulate him on what he described as a resounding victory.
He acknowledged that the people of Ol Kalou had made their democratic choice and said the election outcome reflected the will of the electorate.
Kuria, who has been coordinating government development projects in the constituency, emphasized that political competition should never derail ongoing public investments.
He assured residents that all government-backed projects would proceed as planned despite the change in political leadership.
Among the initiatives he listed were the construction of Nyandarua University, expansion of key road networks, electrification projects, water connectivity programmes, affordable housing developments, and the continued operation of the Nairobi-Gilgil-Ol Kalou-Nyahururu railway line.
He also highlighted irrigation schemes, dairy support programmes, digital hubs, modern markets, smart classroom technology, and the Climate Workx youth employment programme.
Additionally, Kuria said the government would continue issuing title deeds, complete the Mashujaa Wing at JM Kariuki Hospital, finish the Ol Kalou Stadium, and support agricultural projects, including avocado farming and Blue Economy initiatives around Lake Ol Bolosat. The former CS stressed that these projects belong to the people and should not be affected by political transitions.
Concluding his message, Kuria said democracy and development can coexist, arguing that elections should never be viewed as a matter of life and death.
He wished the new MP success and expressed optimism that Ol Kalou residents would continue benefiting from the government’s development agenda regardless of political affiliation.
