Kenyan musician Willy Paul has urged the government to take stronger measures against the spread of explicit content on digital platforms, saying the growing trend is exposing children to harmful material and weakening societal values.
The singer made the appeal through a statement shared on his social media pages, where he expressed concern over what he described as the increasing availability of inappropriate online content. According to Willy Paul, the issue has reached a point where public leaders, parents, and influencers should no longer remain silent.
“As a musician, public figure, and parent, I cannot stay silent while explicit content and other immoral behaviour continue spreading unchecked across online platforms,” he said.
The artist called on the government and relevant regulatory authorities to address the matter with urgency. He warned that failure to act could have long-term consequences for children who are increasingly exposed to inappropriate material through social media and other online platforms.
Willy Paul argued that while freedom of expression is a constitutional right, it should be exercised responsibly. He said protecting children and preserving positive social values should remain a national priority.
