Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has hit back at critics, admitting to undergoing her first-ever facial cosmetic procedure while blaming her widely ridiculed “fox eye” appearance on a makeup experiment gone wrong.
The mother of five sparked a social media storm after debuting a dramatically altered, ultra-lifted eye look in a recent video. While some fans praised the bold transformation, others flooded her comment section with mockery, comparing her new look to an alien.
Addressing the backlash in a video on Tuesday night, July 14, 2026, Zari confirmed she underwent a minor cosmetic procedure but clarified that the viral, exaggerated look was purely the work of her makeup artist.
“I am not gonna lie. I did have a facelift. It was not a full facelift; it was a temporal lift, which is just around the eyes. A full facelift involves you getting cut and all that. My face is tight now, but now I am looking okay. It was the makeup that was a bit extra. Sammy [the makeup artist] is good, but he wanted to try something new, which was the fox eye, and it obviously ended up pulling my face all the way back.”
Zari strongly defended her choice to undergo the temporal lift, rubbishing rumors that she has had multiple surgeries on her face. She maintained that she has always been a natural beauty and is simply choosing to enhance her features as she gets older.
