The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that students already placed in universities and colleges can now apply for inter-institutional transfers through its online system.
Transfer window
In a notice released on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the placement agency confirmed that the transfer portal will remain open for 30 days from that date, giving eligible students the chance to move to institutions of their choice. Applicants may either retain the programme they were originally placed in or apply for a different course at their preferred institution, though those seeking a course change must meet the minimum subject requirements and attain the necessary weighted cluster points for that programme.
How to apply and transfer costs
Every transfer request requires approval from both the releasing and admitting institutions before it can be processed. Students must submit their applications through the KUCCPS Student Portal and pay a non-refundable transfer fee of KSh 1,000, following the procedure outlined on the platform.
Fresh opportunity for degree applicants
In a separate announcement, KUCCPS revealed that students who qualified for university admission but missed out on degree placement due to limited capacity can now submit late applications for available degree courses. The window has also been extended to eligible candidates who did not apply during the initial placement exercise.
Additionally, students seeking government scholarships and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding have been reminded to submit their applications through the official Higher Education Financing (HEF) portal.
