Veteran Tanzanian rapper and deputy minister for information, culture, arts, and sports and MP for the Muheza constituency, Hamis Mwinjuma, popularly known as Mwana Fa, was booed at the Bongo Flava 30 years anniversary over Suluhu’s arena construction.
In videos circulating on social media, Mwana Fa is captured on stage having a hard time explaining Suluhu’s quest to construct an arena amid dissenting voices from hundreds of revelers.
Despite the “Habari Ndio Hiyo” hitmaker trying to convince them that the arena construction would benefit them in hosting such a historic event, none of the revelers gave him an ear.
“Nataka niwahakikishie serikali hii ya awamu ya sita, tulieni kwanza. Kitu nachotaka kuwaambia ni kizuri. Hamtaki show kama hii kwenye arena? Sikati mpaka mnisikilize, nyie banaa, nataka kuwaambia tunajenga arenaa, tunajenga arenaa, no problem. Moja ya sababu zilizofanya sisi tukutane hapa ni kwamba nyinyi mmetuunga mkono na mnavyotaka ndio tunavyotaka sisi,” he noted in part.
The moment saw Mwana Fa pondering what to do next while flanked by veteran rapper Madee, including Diamond’s manager and Morogoro South MP Babu Tale, before gesturing to the DJ to go back to his performance set.
The development highlights Suluhu’s growing disapproval over her controversial re-election, which led to the October 29, 2025, bloody protests.
Successful Anniversary
In the meantime, the anniversary was successful with performances from veteran Bongo Flava stars like Juma Nature, Matonya, Chidi Benz, Mr. Blue, Q Chief (Q Chilla), Crazy GK, TMK Wanaume, Dully Sykes, Dudu Baya, and Joslin, just to name a few.
Pioneer Kenyan Genge rapper Juacali and Nyota Ndogo were also part of the celebrations.
