Pastor Nganga

Neno Evangelism Church pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a has stirred debate after advising his followers against buying mobile phones worth more than KSh 20,000.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Pastor Ng’ang’a argued that purchasing expensive phones often forces people to take loans, leaving them burdened by repayments. He questioned the wisdom of spending such an amount on a device, saying it could create unnecessary financial pressure.

“Why would you spend KSh 20,000 on a phone? You make daily payments, and maybe Safaricom gives you a loan. Your mind will always be occupied with paying for that phone,” he said.

Despite the advice, Pastor Ng’ang’a revealed that he personally owns a phone worth more than KSh 240,000. He explained that someone once offered him KSh 160,000 for the device, but he declined the offer.

He added that he only uses the phone for Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp, insisting that he does not rely on other applications. According to the preacher, he carries the high-end phone because it matches his status whenever he attends public events.

Pastor Ng’ang’a, who is known for making controversial remarks, has frequently found himself at the center of public debate. Recently, he attracted attention after engaging in a public dispute with Naomi Maina, whom he claimed is his daughter.
