Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has pledged to support a 14-year-old boy from Bomet County after learning of his touching journey to meet him and the medical challenges he has endured since childhood.Sudi shared the story On Monday, June 29, of Ian Kipkoech, a Grade 5 pupil from Korara in Bomet East, who travelled to Kiambaa with his mother, Yvonne, after she sold a sheep to raise transport fare.

Ian had long hoped to meet the legislator, saying he believed God would one day bring them together.

According to Sudi, the meeting happened during one of his public events, where Ian introduced himself and shared the struggles he and his family have faced over the years.

Ian has lived with spina bifida since birth and lost the use of his legs following surgery at Kijabe Hospital in 2012. He also suffers from hydrocephalus and urgently requires a shunt procedure.

In addition, doctors at Tenwek Hospital have recommended heart treatment, but the family has been unable to meet the medical costs.

Despite his health challenges, Ian continues to attend school and is described as a bright and determined learner. His family also lacks a permanent home, making their situation even more difficult.Touched by the boy’s resilience, Sudi donated a wheelchair to improve his mobility and pledged to enroll him to SHA to facilitate access to treatment.

He also promised to support Ian’s medical care going forward, Yvonne, a single mother, earns a living by washing clothes and cleaning houses for neighbors to provide for her son.

Sudi said Ian’s unwavering faith and determination inspired him, adding that it was now the community’s responsibility to stand with the young boy.
