A fresh political dispute is brewing within the opposition after Mumias East MP Peter Salasya launched sharp accusations against a faction associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Salasya claimed that the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has been linked to Sifuna, is not operating as it publicly portrays itself.
According to the outspoken legislator, the group is a carefully orchestrated project allegedly connected to President William Ruto, with the aim of weakening opposition unity and misleading Kenyans.
“Sisi sio wajinga (we are not fools),” Salasya said as he accused the faction of engaging in covert political maneuvers.
The MP further alleged that the movement is collaborating with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) to shift public attention away from what he termed the country’s true political path.
He also claimed that some individuals within the group are acting as infiltrators within the opposition ranks.
“You want to be used by the NIS to mislead Kenyans and distract them from the real issues. We will expose the truth. What exactly are your intentions? You are moles and prophets of doom. You claim to stand with ordinary citizens while secretly working with those whose poor leadership continues to frustrate them,” Salasya alleged.
His remarks have heightened tensions within the opposition at a time when different camps are positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Salasya, who is aligned with the DAP-K party under the United Opposition banner, appeared to question both the credibility and motives of Sifuna’s political camp, which is also viewed as having ambitions for the country’s top leadership.
