South Sudanese content creator Yagga has triggered widespread discussion online after sharing his views on financial discipline and independence, advising fans to avoid relying on others for financial support.
Speaking in a video posted on his Instagram page, Yagga urged people to prioritize stability over appearances, saying it is better to be seen as stingy than to constantly depend on others.
“My brother, it is better to be called stingy when your things are together,” he said.
He explained that financial struggles can sometimes affect how people are viewed, especially when someone is forced to ask for help. According to him, such moments can change relationships and influence how others perceive an individual.
Yagga described a situation where someone calls another person for financial assistance, noting that even the act of asking can alter the level of respect in that relationship.
“The moment they pick up and you are like, ‘Can you please help me with this?’ that is the time the way they look at you starts changing,” he said.
Throughout the video, Yagga emphasized the importance of financial control and planning, arguing that maintaining independence protects personal dignity. He acknowledged that people who are careful with money may face criticism, but insisted it is still preferable to being dependent.
“So it is better you are stingy, and you are okay, than to be generous and you are being disrespected,” he added.
His comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing that financial independence is important, while others argue that seeking help is part of normal human life and should not be viewed negatively.
Yagga suggested that life experience would eventually validate his message, saying, “Don’t worry, your eyes will clear.”
The discussion continues online as users debate the balance between financial independence, pride, and community support.
