Veteran Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima, popularly known as King Kaka, is speaking his truth and the streets are listening.

After over 13 years together, King Kaka and media personality Nana Owiti made the heartbreaking announcement in December 2024 that they had ended their relationship. In a joint statement, the couple said the decision was made with mutual respect, while emphasizing that co parenting their three children would remain their top priority.

But behind the composed public statement was a man quietly falling apart.

In a candid sit-down with Dr. Ofweneke, King Kaka admitted that the transition hit him hard. “The unit that I had as a family ni kitu nilikuwa accustomed to, so even the change was hard on me,” he confessed. He added that like any human being, he had feelings and emotions he had to process before picking himself back up. And pick himself up he did one pot at a time.

The rapper revealed that his divorce forced him to learn how to cook. He would get home after a long day, buy food, and realize there was simply no one to prepare it. Starting with tumbukiza and ugali, he eventually turned to YouTube tutorials to sharpen his culinary skills a humorous yet touching symbol of his adjustment to bachelor life.

Now fully embracing his single status, King Kaka says the DMs and real life advances haven’t been shy. Women have reportedly been shooting their shots ever since word got out that he was back on the market and the rapper isn’t exactly complaining, though he’s being selective.

Sources close to the rapper say King Kaka has hinted he is on the lookout for his next serious relationship with someone who can match the life he’s building as an evolved man, father, and artist.

When Dr. Ofweneke pushed him on whether he tried to save his marriage, Kaka asked him not to dig too deep, insisting he respects Nana too much to air their private matters in public. One thing is clear though King Kaka is not broken. He’s upgraded.

From a confused man surviving on Weetabix and soda to a self-sufficient bachelor with a full pot on the stove and options knocking at his door, the rapper’s post divorce glow up is just getting started. Soko iko wazi. Na King Kaka anaenda na roho yake safi.
