A video shared online by police officer Sammy Ondimu Ngare has sparked widespread outrage after showing a student who was allegedly thrown out of a moving bus over lack of fare.
According to reports circulating on social media, the student sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The disturbing clip has triggered anger and calls for justice from Kenyans across the country.
While sharing the video, Ngare expressed deep concern over what he described as a troubling display of cruelty and indifference. As a parent, police officer, and fellow Kenyan, he questioned how such an incident could happen in a bus full of passengers without anyone stepping in to help.
He wondered whether there was no passenger willing to speak up on behalf of the student or offer assistance. Ngare noted that many people have at one time paid fare for stranded passengers, especially students, and said it only takes one compassionate person to prevent a tragedy.
He emphasized that no child should be humiliated, endangered, or exposed to harm because of a fare dispute. According to him, public transport operators have a responsibility to protect passengers and ensure their safety at all times.
Ngare further called for a thorough investigation into the incident. He said that if the allegations are confirmed, those responsible should be held accountable and face appropriate legal action.
The incident has since sparked widespread debate on the treatment of passengers in public transport and the need for greater compassion in society. Many Kenyans have joined calls for justice, arguing that human life and dignity should always come before money.
As investigations continue, the tragic death has left many questioning whether the outcome could have been different if someone had intervened in time.
