Monday, the 1st of June, was indeed a special day for popular NTV Swahili news anchor Ruga Eval.
This is because on a day like that, is when she unfortunately lost her beloved father, albeit a year ago.
Ruga Eval therefore used the day to mark the first anniversary of her father’s death, and boy she did so in style!
The talented Swahili news actually took to her Facebook account and penned an emotional message, in which she revealed just how she felt as she remembered the events of last year while live on air.
Ruga Eval also regretted how she never used to visit her father a lot when he used to be alive, because she now feels like she took him for granted.
“One year ago ~ 01.06.2025. A day like today,
If heaven were a park, I would pay to visit it every day, while everyone else celebrated Madaraka last year, God took something I treasured far too soon; no Sunday has been this dark. Today on air I tried to remember where Madaraka Day was celebrated last, but i couldn’t.
As we prepare to lay his stone on his grave, it pains me to admit I may have taken some things for granted. Visit your parents as often as you can, because tomorrow may never come. May you continue resting in eternal peace mia dada ❤️🕊” she said.
