Political activist Nuru Okanga has stirred fresh debate after claiming that several leaders from the Mt Kenya region are quietly backing efforts to impeach President William Ruto.
He Alleged that even National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, widely viewed as one of Ruto’s strongest allies in government, is among those supporting the push behind the scenes.
Okanga claimed that many lawmakers from the region have become dissatisfied with the direction of the Kenya Kwanza administration and are beginning to distance themselves from the President.
According to him, the growing political tension within the ruling coalition is no longer being hidden from the public.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media, with supporters of the President dismissing the claims as political propaganda while critics of the government argue that divisions within the alliance are becoming more visible.
Kimani Ichung’wah has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Kikuyu MP has consistently defended President Ruto and played a leading role in pushing government business in Parliament.
The claims come at a time when political realignments and succession debates continue to dominate conversations across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
