Rabai Member of Parliament Kenga Mupe survived a road accident on Wednesday while travelling to Kilifi County to attend President William Ruto’s development tour in the coastal region. The accident occurred at around 1:30 pm after another vehicle reportedly attempted to overtake from the opposite direction before crashing head-on into the MP’s car.
According to the legislator, the collision was powerful enough to trigger all the airbags inside the vehicle immediately after impact. Despite the frightening incident, Kenga Mupe confirmed that he, his driver, and his cameraman sustained only minor injuries. Members of the public and emergency responders quickly rushed to the scene to assist those involved before medical attention was provided.
Speaking after the accident, the MP expressed gratitude for surviving the crash, describing the incident as a miracle. He said he believes God protected them from what could have turned into a fatal tragedy. The lawmaker also reassured his supporters and family that everyone travelling in the vehicle was safe and in stable condition.
Kenga Mupe was travelling as part of the delegation accompanying President William Ruto during his visit to Kilifi and neighbouring counties. The President’s coastal tour is focused on launching and inspecting several government development projects aimed at improving infrastructure, transport, and public services within the region.
Although the accident temporarily interrupted the MP’s schedule, he stated that he was recovering well from the ordeal. Following the incident, leaders and residents from across the region sent messages wishing him and the others involved a quick recovery.
Authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the crash as concerns continue to grow over increasing road accidents on major highways across the country.
