A man who caused a dramatic security scare after storming the stage during President William Ruto’s speech in Kilifi is now expected to face legal action as authorities intensify investigations into the shocking breach.

The incident happened during a thanksgiving ceremony for Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs in Ganze, Kilifi County, where the man suddenly bypassed security barriers and rushed toward the President while he was addressing the crowd. The intruder briefly grabbed the Head of State before security officers swiftly overpowered and removed him from the stage.

The dramatic moment caused panic among leaders and residents attending the event with President William Ruto forced to pause his speech as his security detail moved in quickly to contain the situation. Despite the tension Ruto ordered officers not to rough up the man telling security personnel to “leave that young man alone.”

Following the incident Inspector General Douglas Kanja reportedly ordered changes within the presidential security team as concerns mounted over repeated breaches during public events involving the President.

Security experts have raised alarm over the growing number of incidents where individuals have managed to get dangerously close to the President during rallies and public meetings. Authorities are now investigating whether the Kilifi incident was an isolated act or part of a wider security lapse.
