Former Tahidi High actor Joseph Kinuthia ‘Omosh Kizangila’ has opened up about how he was first introduced to alcohol immediately after finishing high school.
Speaking during a conversation linked to media personality Alex Mwakideu, Omosh shared emotional details about how peer pressure and bad company slowly pushed him into alcoholism at a young age.
According to Omosh, life changed after he cleared school and started hanging around friends who introduced him to drinking and smoking. He admitted that what looked like harmless fun quickly turned into a dangerous addiction that later affected almost every part of his life.
The actor said he began earning money while working as a conductor and later in the entertainment industry, but most of the cash ended up being spent on alcohol. Over the years, his drinking problem became worse and even affected his health and family life.
In one interview, Omosh painfully recalled spending an entire salary of KSh 300,000 on alcohol in just one night. By morning, he reportedly had no fare left and had to borrow money to get home.
Omosh revealed that alcoholism reached a point where he could not eat before taking alcohol first. He described the period as one of the darkest moments in his life.
However, the actor says he later decided to completely change his lifestyle after realizing alcohol was destroying his future. He quit drinking and smoking and eventually turned to Christianity and motivational speaking.
Today, many Kenyans continue to praise Omosh for speaking openly about addiction and recovery. Fans on social media have been encouraging young people to learn from his story and avoid destructive habits after high school.
Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu has also previously spoken against alcohol abuse and unhealthy lifestyles, saying discipline and wise choices are important for young people.
