Ruth Odinga, the younger sister of the late Hon. Raila Odinga had people laughing after she revealed that Kisii county Senator Hon Richard Onyonka was once her boyfriend when they were younger.
While speaking during the burial of Teresia Omoke Omongina, the mother of Senator Onyonka, on Friday 15th, May, 2026, Ruth Odinga narrated about her throwback romantic affair with Onyonka in a joking way, and the crowd cheered and laughed.
“I can see you (Senator Onyonka) have many children lined up here, and there are also many mothers. But the one you started life with when I was a young girl at Asumbi Girls and you were at Kisii Boys was me, Ruth Odinga,” she said alleging that she was the first girl that Onyonka knew before he later met his wives.
Aside from that, Ruth Odinga went on to allege that she decided to quit the promising relationship with Onyonka, after she realized that she was still very young when she met him and the relationship couldn’t work out. She joked that had she remained in the relationship a little bit longer, she would have had several kids with Onyonka on top of the 12 children he currently has.
Ruth Odinga’s comments came just a week after Onyonka openly disclosed that he is a polygamous man, with 12 children and several wives.
While making his pronouncement, Onyonka had mentioned that former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe is among his many wives and that they have a child together identified as Baraka Zachary Joseph Akombe Onyonka.
