Police officers in Dandora shot dead a suspected robber during a dramatic confrontation after allegedly catching a three-man gang attacking members of the public.

The incident happened along Councillor Opundo Road during a routine patrol by officers from Dandora Police Station.According to police reports, the officers found three young men allegedly robbing pedestrians in the area.

When the suspects were ordered to surrender, one of them reportedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire at the officers. Police responded, leading to an exchange that left the suspect with fatal injuries.

His two accomplices managed to flee on foot toward the Maili Saba area as officers pursued them.

After the shooting, police searched the injured suspect and recovered a Tokarev pistol loaded with two live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Officers also found a military knife and two mobile phones believed to be linked to the criminal activities.Investigators later secured the scene as part of standard procedure.

The body of the suspect was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary, where it will remain pending identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police said efforts to trace the two escapees are ongoing, with officers conducting operations in surrounding areas.

Dandora and neighbouring estates have in the past faced security concerns involving robberies and violent attacks, prompting increased patrols and crackdowns by law enforcement agencies.

Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious individuals or criminal activity to the nearest police station as investigations continue.
