Governor Gladys Wanga on Friday, April 30, joined President William Ruto and other leaders in Bomet County for the burial of Mzee Edwin Kipchirchir.The solemn ceremony was held at Kipketii in Sotik Constituency, bringing together national and county leaders, family members, and residents who gathered to pay their final respects.

Governor Gladys Wanga was accompanied by several leaders including Governor Ken Lusaka and MP Junet Mohamed.

The leaders joined the family of Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir in mourning the loss of their patriarch.

Mzee Koech, who was also the father-in-law to Reuben Wambua, Chief Officer in charge of Water, was described as a respected family man whose legacy touched many lives.

During the service, leaders reflected on his life and the values he upheld, noting his contribution to family unity and community development.

Scriptures were read, with 2 Timothy 4:7 highlighted as a message of comfort: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Governor Wanga extended her condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to draw strength from faith and the cherished memories they shared with the deceased.President Ruto and other leaders also spent time consoling the family, offering words of encouragement during the difficult moment of grief.

The burial ceremony was marked by emotional tributes, cultural rites, and prayers as mourners gathered to celebrate the life of Mzee Koech.

Leaders emphasized unity and support for the family, assuring them of continued prayers and solidarity during this period of mourning and transition.
