Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), has dropped yet another strong statement regarding the leadership of the country.
Via his usual X (formerly Twitter) posts, Gen. Muhoozi made it clear that he is taking over the country after his father, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, finishes his last term in office.
He went on to say that it is his birthright to succeed his father as president and also the right of God.
“After Mzee Museveni, we shall take charge of the country; that is not only our birthright but also our God-given right. It is inevitable,” Gen Muhoozi stated.
He went on to say that he has made up his mind on it and it is a final decision that no one can force him out of.
He stated that he is ready for any challenge from those that are not happy with his decision and said if there is a possibility of waging war, he is okay with it.
“And we shall not shrink from that responsibility. Let us see those who will wage war against the will of Almighty God,” he added.
The tweet attracted lots of mixed reactions, as some agreed to it while others were totally frustrated.
One frustrated user commented, “Uganda is not a family property. And I wonder why this generation appears to agree with this non-sense. I cry for Uganda, the pearl of Africa.“
Another supported it, saying, “Gen. Muhoozi indeed loves the country, and he will be a good leader that will provide for all.”
The question that still remains unanswered is whether Gen Muhoozi was serious with the statement that he made or not.
