Details have emerged on how a woman invited her ex-husband for reconciliation before she was brutally murdered at her Kangemi residence.
Naomi Chebet, aged 33, lost her life on what initially appeared to be a calm Saturday night in Kangemi, Nairobi.Family members said she had separated from Samuel Njoroge following repeated cases of domestic violence.
They explained that she later resumed the relationship after he assured her that he would change.
Police reports indicate that Chebet was found dead in her rented house after being strangled and assaulted.
The main suspect, Njoroge, is currently missing, prompting an active police search as relatives call for justice.
Chebet had recently relocated to Kangemi in an effort to rebuild her life and was staying with her brother, Harrison Koech.
He told investigators that he arrived home at night and found her lying on a sofa covered with a blanket.Believing she was asleep, he went to bed.
The following morning, he became concerned when she did not wake up.
Upon checking, he noticed swelling on her face and realised her body was cold, confirming that she had died during the night.
According to investigators, the couple had entered the house together at about 9 p.m.
Authorities believe Njoroge left about an hour later, allegedly taking her phones and items suspected to have been used in the attack.
His phone signal was later traced toward Githurai before it went off, and efforts to locate him have so far been unsuccessful.
A post-mortem examination conducted at Chiromo Mortuary revealed that Chebet died from lack of oxygen due to manual strangulation, along with serious head injuries caused by blunt force.
The report also documented deep neck marks, a fractured eye socket, and multiple injuries consistent with a violent assault.
Family members described the relationship as troubled, marked by jealousy, threats, and repeated abuse. They said they had warned her several times against returning to Njoroge and had previously sought help from religious leaders and the police.
One earlier incident reportedly left her hospitalised while pregnant.
Originally from Solai in Nakuru County, Chebet had worked as a librarian before moving to Nairobi in search of better opportunities.
Her three daughters are now living with their grandparents in Solai for safety as investigations continue.
