Zachary Musengi Saitoti is the only known son of Kenyan statesman George Saitoti and Margaret Saitoti.
He is known mainly as a creative photographer, graphic designer, and entrepreneur who has largely lived a private life despite his father’s high political profile.
Even though his father served in powerful government positions, Zachary rarely appeared in the media while growing up.
He later became publicly known during his father’s funeral in June 2012, when he gave an emotional tribute describing his father as the pillar and mentor of his life.
At the funeral he said the helicopter crash that killed his father took away his rock and his hero.
After completing high school, Zachary moved to the United Kingdom for further studies, where he studied arts, media, and design.
He attended the University of the West of England in Bristol and eventually graduated with two Bachelor of Arts degrees.
During his studies he developed a strong passion for photography, especially traditional film photography and creative visual storytelling.
In 2009, he founded a photography company called Shifteye Photography Studios located in Nairobi.
He has also held photography exhibitions in cities such as London, Bristol, and Nairobi.
His father has lots of assets, and the will stated that they should be shared between him and his mother, though exact details were not revealed.
To date, he continues to maintain a low-profile lifestyle, focusing on creative work and business rather than politics.
Unlike many children of prominent politicians, he has not entered politics and prefers the private sector and creative industry.
