Sgt. Obadiah, the Vioja Mahakamani actor known as Mzae Comedy, has died, shocking fans and family.

The family has shared how he died, announced funeral plans, and is asking for financial help to give him a proper send-off.

Speaking with TUKO.co.ke, the family said Sgt. Obadiah died at Komarock Modern Hospital on Sunday, March 8, 2026, after having trouble breathing, apparently from pneumonia. The actor’s real name was Joseph Githinji Mukaria.

Sgt. Obadiah was an actor, content creator, and environmentalist. Before retiring to farm commercially in Ndimaini, Nyeri County, he spent years working for Nairobi County Council and Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company Ltd.

His daughter, Cindy, said the burial will be at their home in Kirigu, Karatina, Nyeri County, on Tuesday, March 17.

The family is asking for contributions to the funeral arrangements, which can be sent to Evelyn Kimathi, his wife and CEO of the Dedan Kimathi Foundation.

Fans and colleagues are very sad. Kawira Joy, a former Vioja Mahakamani actress, posted a video of the late actor, saying she can’t believe it and that life is fragile.
