Narok forward

The Chief of the Defence Forces, Charles Kahariri, on March 11, visited the Narok Forward Operating Base as part of his continued engagements with troops across the country.The visit focused on assessing the base’s operational preparedness and interacting with personnel serving at the facility.

During the tour, General Kahariri met officers and service members from the Kenya Air Force stationed at the base.

He was received by the Commander of the Kenya Air Force, Bernard Waliaula, who accompanied him during the inspection of the installation and its operations.

Addressing the troops, the CDF commended the Kenya Air Force for its dedication, professionalism in carrying out its responsibilities.

He praised the service for its commitment to protecting the country’s airspace and supporting various national security operations.

General Kahariri also highlighted the important role played by the Air Force’s Rapid Response Unit, particularly during recent flood emergencies where the unit assisted civil authorities in rescue and response efforts.

He encouraged the personnel to maintain high levels of preparedness and discipline in their duties.The defence chief emphasised the principle of Mission Command, urging officers and service members to demonstrate initiative, accountability, and sound decision-making while carrying out their responsibilities.

He also stressed the need for careful management and maintenance of key operational equipment and facilities at the base.

In addition to operational matters, the CDF discussed welfare concerns affecting personnel, including accommodation challenges.

He noted that the government’s National Housing Programme is expected to help improve housing for service members.

He further directed the development of a comprehensive master plan to guide future infrastructure development at the Narok installation.
