Baby Eric Omondi

Comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi made a triumphant entry into Kisumu on Thursday, March 5, 2026, as he entered the final stretch of his ambitious charity walk from Nairobi to Busia. The “Lakeside City” came to a standstill as hundreds of residents lined the streets to join the procession, welcoming back a son of the soil who famously attended Kisumu Boys’ High School. Addressing a massive crowd in the heart of the city, an emotional Omondi took to social media to express his gratitude, stating, “East or West, home is best. The journey has been long, but the dream is bigger.”

The walk, which aims to raise funds for the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre, has been a grueling test of physical and mental endurance. Spanning five days and 366 kilometers, Omondi has braved a radical shift in climate that has taken a visible toll on his health. After completing a previous walk to Mombasa in scorching heat, the comedian has had to adapt to the freezing temperatures and relentless downpours of the Rift Valley and Western regions.

The journey has been marked by extreme weather events that would have deterred a less committed traveler.

Despite the exhaustion, Omondi remains laser-focused on the finish line. He expects to complete the mission on Friday, March 6, 2026, in Busia. The ultimate goal is the construction of a rescue center designed to provide free healthcare and education to vulnerable Kenyans. As he prepared for the final leg of the journey, his message to his supporters remained clear: “Nobody said it would be a walk in the park… every step counts. We will deliver.”
