Social media personality Kamau Watoria Joseph has raised concerns over what he described as a worrying wave of high-profile exits from Bishop Ben Kiengei’s Jesus Compassion Ministry (JCM).
In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, March 5, Watoria claimed that several prominent members who were part of the church during its early days have quietly walked away over the past three years.
According to Watoria, the church experienced rapid growth when it was launched in 2023, attracting thousands of followers due to Kiengei’s charismatic leadership and lively services.
However, he argued that the ministry has also experienced significant internal changes, including the departure of key allies who were instrumental during its formative stages.
“In the past three years since JCM started, we have seen significant changes, ups and downs. Many people joined and others left, but the big question is why they are leaving without telling us the reason. Let’s go back to 2023,” Watoria wrote.
He pointed out that several individuals who stood firmly with Kiengei during the launch of the church later exited quietly and have not returned since.
Watoria suggested that the growing list of departures could indicate deeper challenges within the ministry, noting that most of those who have left have chosen not to publicly explain their decisions.
The commentator also highlighted a recent wave of resignations that occurred shortly after President William Ruto visited the church during celebrations marking the ministry’s third anniversary.
According to him, gospel artist Charles Wachira was among those who stepped away around the time of the presidential visit, although the singer reportedly cited personal reasons for his decision.
Watoria further claimed that another individual, identified as Njoroge James, who had been a committed member of the ministry, also recently exited without clearly explaining his reasons.
“Recently even two weeks had not passed when artist Charles Wachira left when Ruto visited JCM headquarters. Today Njoroge James has also left, and he has not clearly explained why. Who is next?” Watoria posed.
He concluded by expressing concern that the continued exits suggest that things may not be running smoothly within the church.
