Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has revealed she is battling a long-standing health condition that has resulted in doctors discovering more than 50 tumours in her body, a diagnosis she has quietly managed since she was 23 years old.

The Oscar-winning star shared the deeply personal update in a candid video message, explaining that she was first diagnosed in her early twenties after experiencing persistent health complications. At the time, she admitted she did not fully understand the long-term implications of the condition. However, over the years, routine medical examinations have shown a steady increase in the number of tumours.

Nyong’o clarified that the tumours are non-cancerous but require close and continuous monitoring by medical specialists. She disclosed that her doctors recently confirmed the number had surpassed 50, news she described as alarming but not defeating. Despite the development, she reassured fans that she remains under professional care and is committed to managing her health proactively.

“I have learned to listen to my body more than ever before,” she said, urging others to pay attention to unusual symptoms and seek timely medical advice. She emphasized the importance of early detection and regular check-ups, noting that her journey has strengthened her resilience and taught her to advocate for her own well-being.

Proud of her Kenyan heritage and global career, Nyong’o said she chose to speak publicly to raise awareness and support others living with chronic conditions. While acknowledging the emotional toll such diagnoses can bring, she said she remains hopeful.

Her revelation has drawn widespread support online, with fans praising her courage and transparency. Although she did not outline specific treatment plans, Nyong’o affirmed she will continue following medical guidance while remaining dedicated to her career and health advocacy efforts.
