A Nairobi father is living every parent’s worst fear after his young son vanished without a trace while going back to school to collect a book.
Boniface Muasa from Sunton, Kasarani, has been searching desperately for his Grade 6 son, Prince Kimani Muasa, who disappeared on Monday, February 9. Prince never returned after leaving home that evening to pick up a textbook he left behind at Linet Academy, a short walk from their house.
Friends, teachers and classmates reported not seeing him at school after he left, and the family has combed the area from morning until night without success. They have reported the disappearance to Sutton Police Station and surrounding posts at Clay City, Mwiki, Kasarani, Githurai and Kimbo, but there are still no solid leads.
The boy was last seen wearing a blue jersey shirt, black jeans and black Crocs, his father said as the long hours without news stretch into days.
The family has also been contacted by unknown callers claiming to have the child and demanding money, but Muasa has refused to engage with these messages, believing them to be scams. Rumours have circulated on social media that Prince has been found, but his father said they are false and have only made the wait more painful.
Prince’s disappearance has shaken his community, with neighbours and relatives joining in the search. His schoolmates last saw him playing before he left the academy grounds, but what happened after that remains a mystery.
Police say they are following up on all reports and appeals to anyone with information to come forward and help bring the boy home. The family has appealed to the public and authorities alike to intensify efforts as each passing day weighs heavily on their hearts.
Parents in Nairobi and beyond have expressed sympathy and urged vigilance as this story continues to develop.
