Kenyan teacher, Christopher Janette, shared a light-hearted classroom moment that left both her pupils and online viewers in stitches after her Grade 5 learners claimed they had seen her on Telegram.

The amusing exchange unfolded during a lesson when Janette questioned a pupil who hinted that he had spotted her somewhere unexpected.

“I saw you on social media, we saw you on Telegram,” a voice confidently said from the back of the class. The remark instantly caught Janette off guard, prompting her to burst into laughter.

Curious and amused, she pressed further, asking what children of their age were doing on Telegram and, more importantly, what they claimed to have seen her doing there.

“Please, tell me what you saw me doing on Telegram! Say it loudly so I can hear you,” she urged, still laughing.

One pupil boldly responded that she was dancing. Janette quickly dismissed the claim, joking that everyone knew she had “two left feet” and could not possibly be dancing anywhere, let alone online.

The surprises did not stop there. Another pupil eagerly joined in, insisting that he had seen her modelling on TikTok, recording videos inside the same classroom, and even riding a bicycle.

He added that he had followed her account, drawing even more laughter from both the teacher and classmates.

The entire classroom erupted into giggles as Janette embraced the moment, turning it into a fun and relaxed interaction with her pupils.

The clip, which she later shared online, quickly went viral, with many netizens finding humour in how confidently the pupils spoke and how naturally children navigate social media today.

Online reactions ranged from playful jokes about how tech-savvy young learners have become to more serious comments advising teachers to remain cautious about their online presence.

Despite the mixed reactions, many praised Janette for handling the situation with humour and openness, noting that such moments help build rapport between teachers and learners.

The incident highlighted the lighter side of classroom life, reminding viewers that laughter can be a powerful tool in creating a positive learning environment.
