Top Kenya Army officer has been deployed to the Central Africa Republic as the Sector Commander in the United Nations Multidimensional Integration Stabilization Mission in the troubled nation.
Brigadier Joseph Douglas Mokwena who is the First Flag Officer in the Kenya Defence Forces, has been handed the powers to lead the restoration of peace and stability in the troubled Central Africa Republic.
The top one-star general who boasts of over two decades in the KDF has previously held several top appointments in the KDF, including most recently being the commandant of the Mariakanj Garrison in Kilifi County.
In 2022, he was promoted from the rank of a Colonel to Brigadier by the then President Uhuru Kenyatta and appointed as the chief of systems at the defense headquarters.
The appointment of Brigadier Mokwena comes at a time Kenya remains a key player in the UN peacekeeping missions across the globe.
