Kenya has continued to witness a rise in serious road accidents, and the Catholic community is mourning once again after a well-known nun lost her life in a crash along the busy Kericho-Kisumu highway.
A family in Makueni is grieving the sudden death of Sister Bibiana Mumbua, who passed away after a fatal road accident that occurred on the route on Sunday morning.
Reports from Musyi FM indicated that the nun died on the spot following the impact of the crash.According to information shared by the Daughters of St Anne Congregation, Sister Bibiana Mumbua Kyulu was travelling from the Rift Valley region when the accident happened.
The congregation described her passing as a painful loss to the church and to the many people she served with commitment and humility.
The late Sister Bibiana will be laid to rest at St Mary’s Cemetery in Msongari, Nairobi, where the congregation traditionally buries its members.
Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by her family and the Daughters of St Anne.Sister Bibiana was born in Ikuutani village in the Kiou area of Makueni County.
She joined the religious life as a young woman and went on to serve in various missions within the congregation.
Friends and church leaders have remembered her as a gentle and dedicated servant who always reached out to those in need.
The rise in deadly accidents along major roads in Kenya has continued to spark concern among road safety groups, who are urging drivers to observe caution and avoid speeding, especially along busy highways such as the Kericho-Kisumu route.
