Pastor Kanyari has spoken publicly for the first time after days of online debate sparked by claims made by the late Betty Bayo’s mother. In a long message shared on Facebook, he said he has watched people discuss his life, his family, and his grief, noting that some comments were based on facts while others were misleading or meant to trigger reactions. He explained that he chose to speak now so he could bring calm and provide his side of the story.

Kanyari highlighted that his main concern is his children, Sky and Danny, who are mourning the loss of their mother. He said their emotional wellbeing comes before online conversations, and he does not want to engage in unnecessary back-and-forth on social media. According to him, the children did not choose the circumstances they are in, and his duty is to guide them through it.

He acknowledged that public criticism has continued even as he remained silent, but added that he has accepted that only God’s judgment carries real weight. He thanked those who have supported him with prayers and asked journalists to handle the matter with sensitivity. He also expressed appreciation to his church community for standing with him.

The pastor’s message follows accusations by Betty Bayo’s mother, who alleged that her daughter had been in a troubled relationship and suffered a fatal injury. She also called for the exhumation of the body to establish more clarity. The claims divided Kenyans online, with some calling for investigations while others urged the family to find peace.

Kanyari avoided addressing the accusations directly, saying the late Betty deserves dignity, his children deserve compassion, and he needs time to heal. He ended by praying for comfort for his family and peace for her soul.
