The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a seven-day weather forecast indicating that most parts of the country will experience sunny and dry conditions, even as six regions brace for rainfall between Tuesday, December 9, and Monday, December 15.
In its notice, the weatherman explained that while the larger share of the country will remain generally dry, several pockets across key regions are expected to receive occasional showers, with daytime temperatures rising above 30°C in some areas and night-time temperatures dropping below 10°C in others.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry,” Kenya Met said. “However, occasional rainfall is expected in a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast, the Northeastern and the Southeastern lowlands.”
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and parts of the Rift Valley — including Kisii, Nandi, Homa Bay, Nakuru, Kericho, Uasin Gishu, Migori, Narok, and West Pokot — will experience mainly sunny days with chances of afternoon and night showers in isolated areas.
In Northwestern counties such as Turkana and Samburu, sunny conditions will dominate, though nights may remain partly cloudy.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley — covering Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Murang’a, and Kirinyaga — will see cloudy mornings with possibilities of light rain, followed by sunny intervals. A few afternoon and night showers may also occur.
