Commander of the Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, on Saturday visited troops stationed in Turkana County, delivering his annual Christmas and New Year message.The visit aimed to commend soldiers for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
During the tour, Lt Gen Ketter visited several military installations across the region. He interacted directly with the troops, assessing their welfare and receiving updates on ongoing operations.
The Commander emphasized the importance of their role in ensuring national security, particularly during the festive season.
Addressing the soldiers, Lt Gen Ketter praised their commitment despite challenging operating conditions. “Your presence represents the highest form of patriotism.
While Kenyans celebrate with their families, you remain on duty to ensure peace and security. The Kenya Army honours your dedication and sacrifices,” he said.He also encouraged the troops to remain vigilant and uphold values such as discipline, integrity, and professionalism while performing their duties.
The Commander reassured them that their welfare remains a top priority, highlighting ongoing initiatives to improve living and working conditions for deployed personnel.
Lt Gen Ketter also conveyed a goodwill message from the Chief of the Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, reinforcing the leadership’s appreciation of the soldiers’ service.
Present during the visit were key military officials, including 110 Brigade Commander Brigadier Anthony Rotich and Kenya Army Chief of Operations Brigadier Charles Oduor.
Their presence underscored the leadership’s commitment to monitoring operations and ensuring troop welfare.
The visit provided an opportunity for the leadership to connect with soldiers on the frontlines, boost morale, and reinforce the Army’s dedication to both national security and the well-being of its personnel.
