Nakuru County teams participating in this year’s Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games visited Kango ka Jaramogi in Bondo to pay tribute to the late Raila Odinga.The delegation, led by County Executive Committee Member for Sports Elga Riaga, was warmly received by Omondi Oginga, the youngest son of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, ahead of the Games scheduled to begin in Siaya County on Monday.

During the visit, the team toured the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Museum and Mausoleum, gaining insight into the statesman’s pivotal role in Kenya’s political history and his contributions to national development.

The delegation had the opportunity to reflect on Odinga’s legacy and the impact of his leadership on the nation.

Youth and Sports Director Josephat Kimemia was also present, supporting the delegation and emphasizing the importance of honoring national icons ahead of major sporting events.

“This visit was not just about sports, but also about remembering the values and dedication of one of Kenya’s great leaders.

It is important for our teams to understand the history and sacrifices that shaped the country as they compete,” said Elga Riaga.The KICOSCA Games are set to kick off in Siaya County, bringing together teams from across the country to compete in various sporting and cultural events.

The visit to Bondo offered an opportunity for athletes and officials to connect with Kenya’s political heritage, promoting a sense of pride and national identity alongside the excitement of inter-county competition.

As the Nakuru delegation concludes its tribute, focus shifts to the Games, where athletes will showcase their talents while carrying forward the spirit of unity and excellence inspired by leaders like Raila Odinga.
