Residents of Naro Village in Kandara, Murang’a County, were left shocked and heartbroken yesterday morning after a groom failed to show up for his own wedding.
Friends, relatives, and well-wishers had gathered early at the venue to celebrate the union of the couple, only to be met with disappointment.
All preparations for the wedding had been completed.
The venue was decorated with flowers and colorful fabrics, chairs were neatly arranged, and a meal, including rice, was ready to be shared among the guests.
The bride, dressed in her wedding attire, waited eagerly for the ceremony to begin, surrounded by her family and friends.
However, as the minutes passed, it became clear that the groom would not appear.
Attempts to contact him failed, as his phone was switched off.
His whereabouts remain unknown, leaving both families, as well as the invited guests, confused and distressed.
Many of the guests had traveled long distances to attend the wedding. “I came from Nairobi to attend this wedding, and I can’t believe it didn’t happen.
It’s really sad and disappointing,” said one shocked relative. Others shared similar sentiments, expressing their sympathy for the bride, who had been waiting for the moment to celebrate her new life.
The bride’s family confirmed that everything had been prepared for the ceremony.
Traditional wedding rituals were set to be performed, and the excitement was palpable as people gathered.
Instead, the day turned into a scene of confusion and sadness, with guests snapping pictures of the empty venue and the visibly upset bride.
