Governance analyst Ahmed Hashi has predicted more problems in Tanzania as a result of the ruling CCM party’s dictatorial ways.

He has foreseen a split into Tanganyika and Zanzibar, caused by pressure from the mainland, whose members, he claims, largely dislike Zanzibar.

According to Hashi, mainland citizens should be expected to pressure for changes soon, especially now that the are being ruled by someone from Zanzibar, President Samia Suluhu, which shouldn’t be the case.

He has further predicted continued stagnation of Tanzania, until CCM is removed from power.

“I think Tanzania might break up into Tanganyika and Zanzibar because there is a latent anti-Zanzibarism in Tanganyika. Tanzania will not move forward unless Chama Cha Mapinduzi is removed,” he said on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show.

This comes at a time when Tanzania is in the spotlight, following the recent chaotic elections, which saw Samia win with close to 98 percent of the vote.
